| Hello there, I'm Pete and I'm from North Cheshire. I drive a Clio 182 cup and a Land Rover V8 110 (soon to become diesel as I'm pinching the engine) and a Land Rover Discovery, and I'm retired. Love track days and have used a Caterham, a Lotus Elise, a Clio Williams, an old BMW 528, a Ferarri, a Lambo, and an Aston amongst others on the track, I'm not the fastest but neither were any of the cars I borrowed so that's my excuse Presently building a car for the track, open top sports car with tubular frame chassis, V8 engine and a 38 kilo body on top, should be interesting. Short of cash for the build as I'm retired but mixing, matching and clearing bits out of dusty corners in the garage to stick on the car, all looking good so far. | |

Bit far for me that but my son might go for it if the weathers right. We like Anglesey and Oulton as they are not too far away, Three Sisters at Ashton in Makerfield is another for cart days and Sprints. Concentrating all cash and time at the moment at building the monster, should see it running in a coulple of months if all goes to plan, then on the track after some serious checking over. Post some pics of the day after it for us. Meanwhile here we are at Oulton Park havin loadsa fun

| Never again am i touching the gearbox on a scooby! Burnt the clutch out a santa pod a few weeks back! I gave up and took the whole engine out. Theres a few, lateral performance, Godspeed brakes, Andy forrest performance, Scooby world, Scooby clinic. Dont use Flat4online, biggest rip off merchant! Ill have to see if ive got any up to date pictures of it ill start a little blog now | |

| It's much easier/quicker to take the engine out than drop the gearbox. I'm not sure if its the box or diff but it's making a metal on metal grindin sound on deceleration, particularly bad in 4th and it makes a rattle sound in any gear between 1500-2000rpm as if a heatshield is loose but checked 'em and they r all tight n secure so think it might b something serious...hope not tho...scooby transmission parts aint cheap!!! | |

| I've heard the six speed is a piontless conversion for increased performance/cost unless u r driving a crazy 500bhp+ monster it doesn't seem worth it.
U know that makes sense as I do have clutch judder but no slipping tho the noises are when my foot is no where near the clutch pedal so probably the spigot bearing.
So if I replace the clutch and the spigot bearing at the same time and hopefully that will solve the problem?

| Im not saying it will solve the problem, its a known common problem, the gearbox/diffs arent the quietest at there best so it may not be as bad as you think. Id start at that end of the gearbox first. Check gearbox oil for metal filings aswell, could be a indication that something has worn inside, stripped teeth etc. | |

| Much appreciated. I've already checked and then changed and checked the oil. Its sweet so I will try that. I need to do the clutch anyway before the ajec day at castle combe so will get it sorted n let ya know if it was that.
