PostSubject: Project Borrowed Time(MR2 Turbo) update page 6   Mon Nov 01, 2010 7:08 pm

Right suppose I better get one of these going again, will get some interior and engine shots in the week or at Rockingham.

On the friday before brands hatch, I decided to go and pick this up from Nottingham...

So i've had it over a week and been loving all the mincer jokes you guys have been suplying me with! Laughing Razz

Current spec is -

Rev 3 2.0 Turbo with current spec about 250hp
73,000 miles/118,000KM
very good service history
Never had the boost played with...until I got it anyway Laughing
Optional extra Traction control which as far as I can see does nothing Laughing

mods so far are -

Departure cat back exhaust
Apexi Induction Kit
Recaro Seats sort of
Apexi Speed/rev counter with lap timer
Blitz Turbo Timer
SSR 16" Wheels wrapped in death tyres
Front and rear Strut Top Braces
Fidanza Lightened flywheel
Heavy Duty Clutch
3 Greedy Gauges

Mods that I have in my possession -

Rev 3 Standard wheels which will be refurbished and powdercoated in gunmetal grey wrapped in proxies T1-Rs
Mongoose Exhaust

So yeah anyway only took me two years Embarassed

You're welcome.
At least the rubbish exhaust on this isnt something you've done lol.

Nah in all fairness its a good car, just needs some work to get it sorted.

right an UPDATE!!! God it's been years since I did one of any value! Laughing

need your opinions... I've got my wheels done but hit a small problem the centre caps are plastic, thus can't be powdercoated so I can either
- leave them silver(pics below)
- spray them the correct colour if I can get them colour matched
- Spray them another colour (red, black etc)
- get arty, I was thinking vinyl wrapping the rising sun or something on them.

What do you guys think of the colour and the ideas above.

Oh and brought some man in dandism mats for it tonight so got a pic of the interior that I said I would.

Very Happy

Colour match tbh mate - they're too strange a shape to be getting funky with I think, would stick out like a sore thumb!

better idea actually, do these use studs or bolts?

If they're bolts, stud conversion and some nice anodised gun-metal nuts. will look good, and you'll have an easier time of swapping them round if you use the pimp wheels for track

they do use studs, tbh I can always take the studs to be coated gloss black or something. I am siding with colour coded tbh.

Colour code, if you dont then I will slap you with a cold wet monkey that has been in the rain with no bannanas for a week!

Rising sun wouldnt look very good, silver looks wank and arty might not work.

What colour were they powder coated, I'll see if i can get it and spray them for you?

Err grey, its city powdercoaters own gunmetal colour, I have a couple of options really I can get a body shop to do them or there is a place near Stu's that mix spray cans to colour match rather than code.

Finally got the car out the garage today to get some pics of the wheels...just

however onto the car, really pleased with how the wheels look on the car...they do look a lighter in the pics due to them reflecting the white snow.

Sadly after the 10 mins it took me to get it out and take photos, the same couldn't be said for getting the car back in to the garage...35mins went by before it was at this stage.

Heres a tip for the MR2 owners, if it snows and the car is in the garage...leave it there Laughing

right well it nearly caught fire but it survived! Big thanks to Nellers for sorting the group buy on the HIDs, what a massive improvement they make over standard. Infact me and Adam went to test them tonight and we have a feeling the dipped beam is better than the full beam was.

All I can say is what a axe wound pop up lights are! however I did take my time to get them in the best place possible so they looked factory, you can't see the ballasts or the wiring from looking at the front.

also in prep for the HIDs I changed the sidelights to Ultra White LED bulbs and the normal 501 Halogens would have looked awful.

Kit

Before(candlelights in jam jars)

After(oooo pretty colours)

yeah although I shorted out my metal ratchet on the battery, sparks everywhere. I shat myself Laughing

Agree about freshening up the front end, the clear lenses do that by themselves but the HIDs make it even better...

think one of the wires may be stopping my drivers side light going down all the way so going to have a look tomorrow as it stops about half inch away from flush with the bonnet/bumper.
