they did this for the Clio cup series to find drivers, it was 200 quid a go.

You only got through if your first name was Bently (as one lad was) Giles, Marcos, or Jenson. All of those peeps were there and they were pants but they got through to the next round.
I know they were useless because I timed them all round the track, but they all turned up in race overalls and pixie boots and daddy brought them in a Ferarri or a big Audi etc.

Spend your money on track days and mix with a better class of driver, at least we will share a flask and not chuck our helmet away if we get overtaken or spin off. Rolling Eyes

Most of these are a con, it is how more and more teams collect their budget for the following season, you'll often find some more profesional looking driver's who usually go through and claim the seats... Most likely already having signed a contract for that seat..

As spritely mentioned Double Six racing did it for a couple ofseasons, but gave up after the same few driver's won two seasons running.. That said VXRacing (rip) also run one for a few seasons also which although was more costly and alot harder did actually end with a seasons racing, and Ginetta usually run something similar in their G20's through the winter but again is alot more costly and is usually full of MSA licenced driver's who have run out of sponsorship.

EDIT:Also just had a quick scan through it, find it quite laughable that they'd happily "take on" a driver who fair enough did well in karting, but has won a seat racing without even turning a wheel in the car you'd be expected to compete in the following season.

Yeah the more I looked into the more it seemed a bit strange.

They are investing in a driver, a car and race team on the basis of a few sessions.
Would of thought it more likely a way to find a test/back up driver rather than a race driver.
Maybe a scouting format to find a potential future driver but not for the following season.

Oh and hai Masher, glad to see you back!
