Welcome Ouch. I remember PMing somebody who knew the car as I was looking at the engine too, and was told it seemed fucked.

oh yea reeechard u bought the saxo shell of me aswel Strange, you never mentioned only having the car two weeks, you also told me that everything was fine, I seem to remember you even saying it was a very strong engine - yet it was constantly overfuelling and had a massive mis-fire that I had to sort out too. ECU I had to get unlocked so it obviously wasn't unlocked, and the loom was 'twiddled' together underneath the loom protection, that's if it was joined at all.

Fair enough! Get an engine for that price and I suppose you've got to presume it may need some work!! That's not the engine I bought. I spent £350 expecting the engine to be fine, as that's the top end of what these engines go for, instead I got sold something that barely worked.
i dont see how the ecu was locked as it all ran fine on my car when it was running, and there was no misfire or overfueling it was a bit juicy but just the same as my gti now, it pulled better than my friends gti and i never had a problem with it. it was a strong engine. like i said about the wiring i never had no reason to look at it the guy i bought it off said it was done proffesionaly and i took his word lol soz if it didnt work out for ya but it was an honest sale. and was fairly priced
