| .
Me and my mate are organising a karting event to keep us busy during the long winter without racing.
The plan is for a 2hour endurance race with pitstops for driver changes.
Teams will be 2, 3 or 4 drivers.
When?
Date currently TBC. Dates depend on the availability of the track but are shortlisted to:
Saturday 05th February 2011 & Saturday 19th February 2011
What?
A go-karting race for upto 12 teams, with each team having up to 4 team members. This race format is like Le-Mans Sports car racing where several drivers share a kart competing as a team in a longer race. Minimum 6 teams / maximum 12. Ideally we want 10 teams as this is a good number of karts on track and gets us a closed session, obviously if there is lots of interest this can be expanded.
This format starts with a 12 min qualifying practice session in which all drivers in each team must participate with driver changes made in the pitlane. Starting order for the Le-Mans race itself is then based on the fastest lap completed by each team. Driver changes are also made in the pitlane during the race and as a result good strategy is paramount to chose driver order and when to stop. The race itself will last 2hours.
We are also looking to provide a buffet meal as part of it
Where?
Formula Fast Indoor Karting Ltd. Unit 1 19 Wildmere Road Industrial Estate Banbury Oxfordshire OX16 3JU
How much?
Pricing for the karting is per team and for a two hour race plus the 12 minute qualifying is £190 per team.
Catering will be available to all attendees, racing or not, and will be priced at £6 per head. As it is a buffet format, all attendees will be requried to contribute to catering so as to avoid people eating it that havent paid for it!
Because of the costs involved in this event, we will require deposits from each team and the catering paid for in advance. I will confirm details for deposit amounts etc once we have confirmed the booking.
Anyone interested? We have this open to several clubs/forums so how about a 'Team B4T'

| Go right excited see'ing karting in the thread title lol, not normally a fan of indoor circuits.. Not sure how far into this you have planned but through the winter Daytona in Milton Keynes run a few 2.5 hour winter endurance events. Karts used are 115cc 2stroke Birel/Rotax extreme karts, can't get any quicker without building one yourself. | |
