| Thought it was high time i said hi, I'm Marvin, live in Bridgend, South Wales Picked up a mk1 MX5 in May 2010 after flogging a fully restored Mini (and after doing a track day in a mates MX5) with the intention of driving it for fun and doing the odd track day. I'm by no means a mechanic but i dont mind rolling up my sleeve's and having a go The mini leaving after a 4 year restoration and pampering:   My 5, the day i picked it up:    It's a 1997(P) 1.8, still pretty much stock and generally pretty tidy. The pictures were taken after i'd given it it's first de-crapping, the seller thought it would be great to spray everything with "shiny spray" including the paint work. Since May i've given the car the usual once over, i did all the fluids including the diff and gear box oil, filters, etc , I did the cam belt with a mate but other than the service the car is still pretty standard - well i've thrown on some stiffer, lower springs. Currently refurbing a nice set of old school alloys, should be done this weekend (fingers crossed) Wheels pre re-furb:  Last picture, honest:  Cheers Marv | |

| Welcome over! Seems a strange question... you didn't have another mini before that one? I bought my Missus on from Bridgend off a guy called Marvin  MX looks good, Have you done any track in it yet? | |

MX looks good, Have you done any track in it yet? Only other Mini I had was when I was 17 and that was sold in Shropshire back in 1991!! The blue one above went up to Scotland, someone flew down to South Wales, saw it, paid for it and sent the low loader to pick it up! I've only ever met one other guy called Marvin in 37 years and his Mum was best mates with my Mum?? The 5 hasnt been on track yet, did do one track day in a mates though, put the nail in the coffin for the Mini, i was thinking about selling it as i rarely used it, had a go in the '5 and was that impressed the Mini was for sale the day after!

What plans if any do you have for it? No specific plans this year really, got the wheels to go on when they're done and the front bumper needs a respray but mechanically its sound so if it aint broke dont fix it, going to just enjoy it! Marv | |
