Ok from the first look i thought it was nice...

Couldn't work out the stupid central locking

Couldn't work out the stupid seat adjustment

Couldn't adjust bolster width - meaning no-one with a waist of over 20 inches will fit

Couldn't use the Sat Nav - the only socket is in the back

Managed to get it started easy enough

Turned the lights on - all honesty they are no better than the MR2's

Stereo controls is stupidly complex, for a ICE system that is basic as hell, no bluetooth

The 1.6 16v (apparently 105bhp) engine is pathetic, low down torque is no existent.

Steering is limp, seems barely connected to the wheels.

ESP kicks in on every round about, needlessly cutting the limited amount of power it has.

The throttle pedal is atleast 1.5x the length of my foot, and is attached to the base

The wheel arch intrudes into the pedal space, meaning the space is more limited that a 106

The throttle is fly by wire, and there is a odd delay - almost like an automatics kickdown

Err... there is more but i'm too tired and angry to go any further.

How can a company owned by VW spend millions on R&D give us this frankly pathetic effort.

Bit of a shambles then!

I think most of the newer VAG cars have that base mounted throttle though, and the electric throttle, I know for sure a mate's 05 Golf has it and fairly sure another mate's Arosa does.

The base mounted throttle isn't the issue, they'vealways been like it, it's more the positioning of it, and the sheer size!

Not driven that shape Ibiza, so all I can compare it to is the previous shape that I learnt to drive in and work's Mk6 Golf.

Whether it was the dual controls in the Ibiza I don't know, but the pedal felt like they were held together with Mecanno, loosely...

As for the stereo, the Golf one is stupidly difficult. I just hook the phone up over the Bluetooth in that though and then I can skip track and change the volume off the wheel easily enough!

As for the power socket being in the boot, WTF?! Is there not one under the centre armrest? (That's where it is in the Golf).

fudging love the seats in the Golf though. It's got a silly stop start on it too Laughing

LOL so i drove it in this morning, fudging thing.

Got to work, locked it up, happened to glance at the boot... it's a leon Embarassed

Which is even worse! They are even more money, and i'm even more let down by the difference to the old one!

Same as the Golf then! Is that a 1.6 petrol then? Our Bluemotion Golf is a 1.6 TDi (all eco friendly whatever) and that seems to pull well for a standard boring car!

naturaly aspirated engines shouldn't be allowed in the newest VAG ranges.

In the mk4 they were using a 1.4 and still kept it in the mk5. 75bhp to move 1.3T or more? Joke!

Odd with the delay on the throttle, mine uses a DBW system and its fine, you'd think with a turbo it would be worse but its fine.

Seats have allways been the VAG groups poor relaition, apart from the cupra r's and so forth.
