| Just read up on the "catalytic converter missing" part. At the moment the current rule says that if your vehicle passes the emissions test, it's a pass. This new rule says that if your vehicle was fitted with a catalytic converter it must have one when it's tested even if it'd pass anyway. Diesel's are exempt from this.
F'ing European crap. | |

| Umm why are diesels exempt? One rule for one and another rule for others... | |

I think it's to do with how the rule is worded. It implies that this rule only applies to vehicles that can undergo a full catalytic converter test. This is apparently spark ignition engines (petrol, LPG etc). Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge can confirm or deny that as it's beyond me.

| Diesels dont get emmission tested. Just a smoke test.
So de-catting them has never been a problem.

| Apparently, if the car was fitted with airbags and they are obviously missing or defective it's an instant fail. This is on top of any warning lights which are illuminated.
So for those of us who have aftermarket steering wheels, I hope you've kept your original wheel!
Unfortunately I've removed the entire airbag system as it wasn't needed / in the way of the SatchShift.
Bugger. | |

| No if the system is fully removed then the airbag one is ok. Meant to be anyway because of rally cars etc for road use.
Guy on saxp who is a test said that anyway.
So you should be good dave

| Cheers Rich. I hope so!
I can see why they're testing these things to protect people buying a second hand car that's had safety systems tampered with, without their knowledge.
Obviously frustrating for those of us who use the car for a very specific purpose but don't want to tow it.
