Bungs/Baffles Empty
PostSubject: Bungs/Baffles   Bungs/Baffles EmptyMon Nov 28, 2011 10:56 pm

After a good day in my friends Puma yesterday at Snetterton, im really keen to get my mr2 on track

has anyone had any experiance with custom baffles/bungs

i have a bung but it reduces it down to 105db which is on the limit and id like to narrow it down a bit further.

Strapons are the best bet, you you start struggling to get them over 4 inch...

You'd be better off with an additional silencer if you can get on in the right size, i can't imagine that the bungs help with back pressure!?

nah bungs are crap for power, Stu additional boxs in an mr2 exhaust is hard due to the rough it takes and the length tbh

You can get silencers that fit in the same way as bungs IIRC? So external in a way. Worth looking into.

Either that, or double check your internals - worth getting some exhaust wadding and look into getting the backbox repacked, there's usually loads of room in there for wadding, and I've heard of some who have just re-packed the exhaust, and gained reductions of 20db.

There's wadding on ebay for something like £10 when I looked, all it involves is someone able to cut/weld taking one end off the back box, winding wadding around the pipe in the centre, then welding it back up. There's a guide on one of the mx5 sites I'm on that shows how to do it simply using a hacksaw and rivets if you're that way inclined...

Reducers shouldn't be too hard to knock up for an engineering company if they were given the dimensions of the new silencer and, say, your bung?
