Strange, i'd class a GTi the same as a VTS for insurance reasons.

I see what you mean there, they just wont insure me on a lot of cars, which I'm guessing they will use the insurance group for. BUT how can one group different be such a difference in price. even for my dad, his 5 series bmw was group 15 or something, and my vts was 2x the price for him.

It's all in the statistics I guess, the group is probably just a weighted modifier in the whole equation - seems that particular insurance company puts more emphasis on the statistical likeliness of that specific car being in an accident than the BMW.

Insurance prices annoy the hell out of me, i have two policies: The saxo limited to 5k/year and garage stored and has 8 years ncb on costs me £400 with modifications declared, my daily drive which i do a good 30k/year and stored on drive with 4 years ncb costs half that Rolling Eyes

statistically though, more people crash saxo's. therefore you're more likely to be one of those people that crashes. insurance is a joke anyway, it's totally useless for me, I'd soon rather pay out for any damage myself than go through insurance..

wish I could get quotes as low as yours :p

In Austalia insurance is an option, though you are liable for damges but unlike this country everyone who doesn't have insurance honours their duty to pay up.
