| Right....I have had: 1994 106 1L - Slow so converted to 1.3 Rallye which never worked so was scrapped 1995 106 1L - salvage project, got it working but never right, so scrapped 1996 106 1.4 XSi - donor project for the original 'Salvage' project, this was accidentally scrapped at Norledge's old work :-O! 2000 Renault Clio 1.4RT - good first car until the cambelt snapped and, despite engine change, never ran properly so sold her 2000 Renault Megane 1.6 Sport Coupe - this was to replace the Clio....was ok'ish until that cambelt snapped too! Fixed it up for cheap and sold it Currently: 1988 Rover Mini Racing Green 1L - Track project, still on the bricks! 2002 Landrover Freelander 2L TD4 black 3 door Convertible - MY DARLING! Costs more than the Clio to run (understandably) but is so good looking and fun to drive, looking forward to getting the roof off in summer! Plus she will pull the Mini when finally finished....that is if I still have her after a million years ! | |

| 1998 106 Zest - My first real love lol, it was rubbish, but in such a great way.
2000 Yellow VTR - the car I thought I was going to really break the mould with, but got annoyed with. Wasn't very 'me'.
1998 Silver 106 GTi - funfunfun, just needs a few personal touches! And maybe some red paint in the distant future lol | |

| 96 Ford Fiesta - 8 years old with only 35k, red/pink, rusty as hell, broke down weekly, I thought it was great at the time. Shed! 01 Clio - Only a 1.2 but top spec one with all the extras, a car I loved and kinda still wish I had, even though it wasn't that fast. Was boring silver though. Sold it to my cousin, so still see it 98 106 Rallye - Another rusty shed, an impulse buy, didn't bother me for a couple of years. First real quick and modded car. 98 306 Rallye - Awesome induction noise, comfiest seats ever, but always a bit lardy and never quite as good looking as a 106. 96 106 Rallye - Not mine, so awesome fun to abuse Loud! 98 106 Rallye - Best car I've owned, have a sort of love/hate with it, but overall its so sorted. Paintwork like glass, excellent suspension setup | |

| Can't list them all but here are a few memorable ones,
In early 1965 I had an 848cc Austin A30 (RTU 87) which had crap brakes and even worse steering, the suspension was bouncy and it leaned right over on corners.
In 1965 I progressed to a 948cc Morris Minor, (367 AKB) I ragged the arse off it, melted the brakes and wore a new set of tyres out in 3000 miles, it taught me how to drive though as it had no power and wouldn't stop so I quickly learned how best to go round corners.
In 1966 I had an 848cc Mini Van (504 FOL). That's better, got brakes and it handles, nice straight through exhaust as well. Under steered a bit though as I hadn't yet worked out how to fettle suspension on the cheap. It had completely bald town and country tyres on the front which were good in the dry but a nightmare in the wet.
Had a few cars after that but ended up married 1968 and with another Mini. I sorted it with a 1300GT (Cooper S spec) engine and fettled suspension, there was little that could live with it in 1970, 0 to 60 in 8 secs and topping out at 100mph, no track days then just country lanes with no speed cameras and country coppers in Morris minors......heaven.
Loads of cars after that including Vauxhall, Ford, Moskvitch, Standard, and Citroen. Enjoyed the Austin Cambridge that I had, not for speed but for it's handling after I put radial tyres on it. It wallowed a bit on corners but I managed to get it through and beat a lot of much better cars round the lanes, it had good brakes as well as I had learned how to sort brakes out by this time, I enjoyed pushing it beyond its limits and getting away with it.
Cars in the 90's included a nice 205 gti and a mark one Clio 16v. Now I can go really fast and stop and go round corners, these cars are taking all the fun out of it as the roads are not up to the cars anymore.
Into the late 90's and early 2000 and my sons are buying nice cars and lending them to me so I am driving Clio Williams, Lotus Elise and attending the first track days at Anglesey and Oulton Park.
I think the Clio Williams and later the 182 Cup have been lots of fun round the track but the 1986 BMW 2.8 that my son had was the best fun we have had on a track day, old hard tyres that squealed and smoked on corners and iffy brakes but it did last all day with three of us taking turns in it. The Elises have been great especially the silver 160 which has big brakes and race suspension, it's like a race car and not a lot can catch it .
On a track day though I would rather have a car that you really have to drive hard rather than one that does it all for you, power when you ask it and stops when you hit the pedal gets boring after a bit dont you think.
