For anyone who doesn't know me, I'm a photo whore, OK. If you already know me, you knew that already didn't you
Will stick up a proper blog for the black Rallye later but for now, here's a bit of an introduction and some of my old cars.
It all started four years ago now when I bought a chavtastic 106 Rallye...
Paid too much for it, turned out to be a rusty shed, never mind. I dechavved it and it took from Land's End to John O'Groats, round the Nurburgring a couple of times, and more importantly, got me hooked on anything with the word 'Rallye' in it's name.
Had some silly wheels for a while...
And ended up looking like this...
Then I got tired of the rust, and it failed an MOT on the emissions, sold it for next to nothing and went looking for a GTi6. Next thing, up pops something Bianca White with rainbow stripes on the side. Throw in an added bonus of being 'famous' and I was off to Brighton to pick up a 306 Rallye.
Famous, I said. It was the ex Peugeot press car Rallye, meaning it had been well looked after by Peugeot. Err, yeah...
It slowly but surely got transformed, losing a wheel along the way (these Rallyes are desperate to shed weight
)
It was a lovely car for cruising along motorways but it just never had the fun aspect of the 106.
In the meantime, my brother turned 17 and started looking for a first car that he could afford to insure. Naturally, along came Rallye #3. Not mine, but I reckon I drove it more than him
This time it was a 1.3 S1 Rallye. I've never had so much fun in such a small engined car! Coupled with a 266mm 306 HDi brake setup and an insanely loud Supersprint exhaust it was a little screamer.
Went through a few sets of wheels, got slammed, then he got a job on a farm, bought a Land Rover and this went.
So I decided I needed another 106 in my life. Had my eye on something a bit special, something I nearly bough a couple of years before. I took a plane to Newcastle and drove back in what is known as 'Rack'
Those in the know will tell you there's three black S2 Rallyes in the UK, a RHD 16v, a LHD 16v and a LHD 8v. This is the one with the proper engine!
Engine bay got tarted up (don't worry, I swapped that rusty manifold for a shiny Raceland
)
OZs got tried on for a bit, but realistically they were a bit big, so they're for sale now
Uber rare euro spec interior found its way in thanks to Chris
And I even went to Holland to pick up a LHD carpet for it, LOL. Also fitted the OE GTi headunit and a 306 stereo control stick.
And that's pretty much as it stands, with a few new decals added along the way.
Told you I was a photo whore...
