HID kits - arrived today! horaah!

If any of you guys want to get some hids I have been speaking to hid-direct to see if he can do a deal for a number of hid kits. I'm ordering one and so is Jo. They are 60quid plus 6quid delivery but I'm trying to get some money off. I know they are technically illegal but I really need to be able to see at night![quote]

What bulb does the MR2 take?Is it a dual filament bulb (IE the H4 bulb that can do high and main beam) or seperate bulbs for high and main beam. The Ludes use H1 for high beam and H4 for main beam for example and hence I need the H4 bulbs for mine.

whats the best ones to go for as the lower the k the more blue the light is isn't it?

Higher the k, the more purple/blue the light gets, and the less visibility you get. OEM standards are 4300k or 6000k.

Mine are 6000k if anyone wants a reference, most of you have seen them by now

Managed to pick mine up for £50 delivered, good quality. Think there's a guy selling them for around that on boners ATM, any type.

Right all I'm emailing some companies for quotes now but with being christmas some companies are shutting up shop until after new year.

Please can you add your name to the list so I can keep track of people that are interested. Please add your bulb type required and the kelvin you'd prefer and I will do my best for some prices! Just to make sure as well, I have only my main beam running from my H4 bulb so need a H4-1 bulb as it only uses one beam. If your car uses an H4 for main AND high beam you have a choice of H4-2 (which uses xenon for main and halogen for high) or H4-3 (which is bi-xenon for both beams but is a little more expensive).

Hoping kits should be between £55-£65 with good warranty as well but getting quotes! And lastly please only add your name if you are genuinely interested as I'm trying to get quotes on relatively low order numbers and won't help if I get a quote for 6/7 and 3/4 people then pull out!

Found some more descriptive info on the type of H4 bulbs out there with the HID conversion kits. Have a look into it if you are unsure!

1. Single Beam, H4-1, i.e. HID for main beam only
2. Hi-lo Beam: H4-2, HID bulb for main beam and a halogen bulb for high beam
3. Telescope Kit: H4-3, single HID bulb that can switch between high beam and main beam by a solenoid controlling a shroud around the bulb
4. Bi-xenon Kit: H4-4, 2 HID lamps on each bulb, which work sepately for high and main beam

Was Del Sol H4 for main and high beam? And got to double check anyway as she now has the civic front end and lights on it, but presume that would also be H4 for both beams!

Josh and Adam, 8k is pretty blue. Best off having a look at YouTube and other pics before you decide 100% as have a feeling you may be inviting some serious attention from the cops. You will also lose brightness above 5-6k!

Is the 4700 legalish or will they be insanely white?

Ive been selling HID's for 2 years now, and i've not had a problem with the kits, they give a beam pattern and pass an MOT. 6000k is basically white. 8000k is blue then after that it goes into purple and you start to use your light output then.

I could do you lot a good deal if you get more than 10 people. With warranty. Pm me.

how blue is 8000k tho? Alot of pictures seem like its a very slight blue tint? but then it could be how my monitor is set up?

Josh, Chris's are still a faint blue and his are the 6000k ones that's why I'm tempted by the 4700 as I want standard looking or as near as anyway.

Me too... but being all the lights on my car are now black (as apose to orange and red), I suppose that I shouldn't attract anymore than needed attention...

Only crap pics I could find on my phone... I'll get the camera out tomorrow if needs be. They don't look incredibly blue until you put them next to normal lights, then you can REALLY see a difference!

chris its your lights that are making me think if I want the 4700ks! I remember you following me to combe and they had that slight blue colour.

Anyone know what tends to come standard on cars with HID's? Being looking at cars today and the bmw tint of blue seems nice.

As far as I'm aware normally oem is around 4300k but they use projectors as well which makes them look a little bluer.

The lights look good Chris, although when we were leaving karting I did think they had quite a blue tint!

think i'm going to change mine to the 4700k ones tbh it depends how you look at chris's as I say when he was following me from morrisons to combe they did look quite blue.

Blue are normally 8000k, the 6000k is white.
