| Just had a customer into work with her Husbands Range Rover running like a dog. Huge amounts of smog being chucked out the back, clearly a wrong fuel! Asked the customer 'Yeah i just filled it with Diesel' It's a 5.0 Supercharged Petrol... £7000 repair bill later, i've ended up with 80litres of Diesel/Pertol Mix for the truck My Question is, have any of you ever wrong fuelled? What was your outcome? Have to admit it picked up the diesel pump the other day, turned around and realised i'm in the MR2 | |

| Don't new UK car's come with smaller holes for petrol cars, so you can't put diesel in a petrol? | |

| the Mrs's dad managed to fill the mrs's mums 207cc (diesel) up with petrol the other week, drove it until it stopped! luckily the tank was drained and caused no damage.
personally ive never done it and can't really see how people do it. im always driving different type fueled vehicles.. don't think you should be on the road if you can't tell the difference between petrol and diesel

| My mums filled her diesel astra up twice with petrol but remembered as shes filled it up so not started the car, got my uncle to tow her & drain the fuel. So never caused any damage, and uncle buys the petrol off us afterwards so doesnt really cost us much | |

| I once did this as Jimmy pointed out!
Had the megane and my sisters clio, both purchased at the same time. 1 diesel and 1 petrol, I forgot which way round and stuck diesel in the petrol megane. Luckily it was able to be pulled out easily, only drove 10miles before it started to die. Renault sorted it for £200 I think

| My sister-in-law put diesel into her Petrol Citreon Grand C4 Picasso. She managed to get it onto the M275 before it stopped totally in the middle lane. Panic all round with two little ones in the back with traffic racing past on both sides! Funny thing is that when the police turned up and blocked off two lanes, they tried to move it. Ten minutes later it was still there - they couldn't find the handbrake! By this time our brother turned up and had to explain to the ol' bill that it was the button marked handbrake on the dash! I heard that two officers have got to have hernias repaired after trying to push it off the motorway However, not so funny to pay the hundreds of pounds bill and lose a near-full tank of diesel Luke was not best pleased! | |

| We had a scooby in at work that they put diesel in. AA said it would be fine, but i disagree... Even more so with a heavy right foot and up'd boost... Ended in a very sad state to say the least! | |

| Petrol in Diesel - Fine on older engines up to 25-30%, newer stuff shouldn't really go about 10%
Diesel into petrol - lucky to get away with 5%!

| I've been lucky. But at the pumps always quickly check the lines go back to where they should be in case some cheeky person has swapped the standard petrol filler for the expensive stuff.
Maybe they should electrify the expensive filler so you get a shock as you accidently pick it up rather than when you open your wallet.

| lol this was always happening when working at jeep. If you put petrol into a diesel it really hurts the injectors as the diesel lubricates them so your better off not driving at all. | |
