| Sorry I couldn't make it! Was at Pug1Off getting the flywheel/clutch sorted (and ended up at a rolling road event ). I heard Rallye James had a little issue, or two? No other casualties? I hope Quarry lived up to expectations. | |

| Well, what a day... To start the day nice and early, at half five, on my way to the M5 (20 miles from my house), they had closed the road for roadworks. Cue me, in a Rallye with poopoo headlights, doing 60 down single track lanes that I didn't know where I was, trying to find a detour. Anyway, got there, was on the 9.15 session so went straight for sound check. Mate appears at my window for a chat, and then lets me know that I'm losing a lot of coolant. Oops! So that got taken back to our stand while I had my briefing and was then bodged up (wired the fans on constant for the session) for track. Missed my slot and ended up in the 306 owners session, on track with my old Rallye! Had a decent session. Got stuck behind a shitty blue Elan, was pussying through the corners, then booting it on the straight where I didn't have the power to get past Nearly rear ended him a few times as he was that early on the brakes! Then on the second to last lap I had a stutter as the fuel was nearly out. Oops. Came in a lap early to save the embarrassment of being towed off! Rest of the day I just mooched around, sat in the sun, lol'd at poor drifting etc. Went to go home, not a problem. Radio kept turning off though. Then stopped for fuel and the car was dead. Tried to bump it down a hill, but it wasn't having it. Popped the bonnet and found the alternator belt had done a bunk (probably from where it got covered in coolant). As my battery light had come on halfway round the track session, I guess the belt it somewhere on Combe. Oops. Luckily, Mr RAC came out (in a record 20 minutes, very impressed ), fitted a new belt and I made it home. Eventful day, but a good laugh. Now just need some pics of me on track gurning | |

Uploading some pics now, not the best, I know there's some good ones to come from Ad/Woz/Stu/Rich though!

| Good day. I'm rather red to say the least, only on one side of my face too :/ Gutted my car couldn't make it.
I got some photos but they'll probably be rubbish as I've never used a DSLR in my life and didn't figure out the right settings till the afternoon, just need to wait for Kyle to put them on a disc for me to faff with.

| Where to start, well i was up at 04:45 and away from London by 5am, however, as normally happens on show days, something just has to go wrong, Combe was no exception, i switched on my lights to find i had no dash lights (dials) so therefore no speedo etc, simple i thought, i will simply use tom tom as a speedo at the same time as him telling me to keep right for the 75 miles of M4 i had to travel. Any how, 6am and its light so i can see my speedo. Arrived at Morrison's car park just after 06:30, had to get fuel about 10 miles out ready for the track as Morrison's fuel station didn't open till 7am, no idea who i was looking for, all i knew was Stevie's TURD, but he wasn't responding to my texts and calls due to signal issues. So I'm sat like a lemon on my own, a small convoy appears, a mixed bag of euro and jap, possible i thought, they drive right by me and i spot the B4T stickers, thank god for stickers! So i tag on the end and park up, meet Stu and everyone else, Jamesy rolls up and the car gets sound tested, over 100db, fingers crossed they go easy, upon arrival to Combe, its time pretty much for sound check and briefing, the car gets read at 103db, the man says no, too loud, a quick lap round and wedge a bung in the exhaust while queuing again, woz jumps in to take it through test 2, while i go off to await driver briefing, its a pass at 90 something, result, I'm on track, after briefing, Woz and i do a lap and whip out the bung and queue for track time, what an awesome time, i am now hooked, cheers guys. The rest of the day is spent on stand, and around the circuit. before heading off at half three. A little investigation the next morning on the speedo lights issue revealed a fuse, interestingly, they are on the same circuit as my tail lights, so i had an hours driving in the dark with no tail lights but all issues remedied now. Thank you to everyone who was there and chatted to me, i was made to feel very welcome and feel as though i have been accepted in. I hope this was the first of many track days with the club, i will continue to do shows with TB as that is where my loyalty for beer lies, but track events are firmly sat on this side of the fence at B4T. Once more, thanks to everyone | |
