To be honest, i could probably do it. i have lowered cars before just never done a tortion bar, id probably be able to manage however could just do with someone over my shoulder who has done it before and steer me right when i inevitably screw it up! haha.

I'm up for that, bring a decent spring compressor and an angle grinder, can do mine too

If that's you guys offering to help/observe then that would be splendid! I have some spring compressors, axle stands and whatnot.

Don't have many plans for the six, just strip it and slowly add parts as and when I can afford them, need to sell my jag first really!

Thats true could do it there, its not that hard with hammer but then will be filthy for the rest of the day lol. As you are part of the gti6 owners club print off the info from there pebbles. The only thing i have found is all the 306 i have lowered i havnt been able to remove torsion bars due to them being seized, so had to remove the trailing arm instead but works just aswell but i think you can only move it by 30mm at a time that way, well i managed to do mine 50mm some how lol.

Dabbot why you want a spring cpompressor & angle grinder? grind them in the strut lol.

Il second ryan tho dont reckon its the best idea to do it there just in case somin snaps goes wrong and ul end up howling lol

I imagine ill have to remove the trailing arms, I don't have a slide hammer anyway so its probably the easiest way. I don't need it done straight away anyway so no rush. No need to bother ourselves with it at combe, ill do it at the beginning of may.

I tried a slide hammer on mine with wd40 soaked on it for ages & would not budge lol.

Yeh wasnt sure if i would still have it but think im gonna keep it now & possibly try to get some spacers to make the track a bit wider & possiby some arch extensions to make it a bit different depends on how it looks.

Torsion bars are the way forward or backwards when u get lift off oversteer & end up going backwards lol.

I have spent the last few weeks, and the coming couple of weeks getting it ready for the first show of 2012. Hell the first show mine will have attended since Pugfest 2010.

Another couple coats of polish and glaze.

Couple coats of wax.

Wheels have to be scrubbed and have the polished lip attended to.

Then there's the interior to be sorted.

3 weeks and counting down!!

What u doing with the polished lip? Are they coated in brake dust? I have a prob with my polished wheels as tet have dust embedded and I can't get it off. Tried autosol and a good scrub but no joy

I have bought some Grade #00 wire wool and some new metal polish.

Shall be scrubbing them first, rinse, dry and then try the wire wool.

Mine have been ruined by salt... salt on the roads from winters past.

I will be taking pics before and after, when done I will post them up here.

Ok, not rushing or anything but when u doing them? I have four wheels to do and they are completely polished. I put a thread up about it yesterday under car care

I was going to be doing them today, but it's rained all day.

I will be getting into them this week though.

Machine polished so far. Using a Megs G220 Dual action machine.

I am considering getting a rotary machine polisher in the coming months.

Bloody hell, those g220s ain't cheap. I'm a tight arse so I'll stick to my cloth and elbow grease haha

A good level of shine can be achieved by hand polishing.

Machine polishers remove swirls, minor scratches and clean the paint more effectively.

Give ya first dibs on my G220 if I buy a rotary.

Tempted, we can discuss at coombe, I'll be in the merc that's not as shiny as your pug

What compound u use and what glazes??

I use Menzerna polish's on Sonus spot pads and Poorboys Black Hole for glaze.

Shine looks nice mate.
