Project FTQ Empty
PostSubject: Project FTQ   Project FTQ EmptySat Dec 25, 2010 11:26 am

Right... we have started "Project FTQ" at work... well yesterday to be exact. We plan on using the car for hill climbs, track days, and advertisment. Long of the short is the model of the car is a secret until finished, but it was a 2.0l non turbo automatic... front wheel drive.

So far we have cut the boot out, cut and made new rear chassis legs, and modified other bits in which to mount a rear subframe. This rear subframe is needed as the car is being converted to run the GTO running gear.. Manual 4 Wheel drive, with a 3.0l v6 twin turbo lump dropped in the front.

Just for reference of the weight of this thing... with the standard 2.0l engine still in, we have had to put wheels, buckets of bolts, and any other heavy items we can find in the back of the car to keep it on the ramp as the rear kept lifting off the ramp legs!

The engine that we are putting in will be standard power, other than it'll be running a map-ecu (piggy back) to save on wiring the MAF in, but the power output may well change after a test drive if we dont find it... Fun enough?

I'll get some pictures of the huge hole in the boot etc on tuesday when we are back in.

(FTQ stands for F**k Thats Quick)

Car remains a secret Wink

And no idea yet... the car will be road legal, so this leaves it abit more open to a degree, or at least does in Cornwall with our "strick"... regulations, but we will look into it once the car is completed. We can always do another one if needed to pass any regualtions... We just want this one suitable for the road in a sleeper looking form.

Have you got a copy of the MSA yearbook? With your plans your only option would be modified production (S12). Still has to be road legal, just alot more flexible on bodywork engine and suspension modifications. As for category that will depend on the extent of the bodywork alterations.

Thanks for the info! Not yet. We're doing the car for a "personal project", that we will test on track days etc. Its main use will be on road as a show type car of the work that we do, but will look at the regualtions when we hill climb it. Need to make sure it works first Very Happy
