| Haha, lots can be done! One of the reasons I bought it. Not sure about rotary though, they've never really appealed to me tbh! | |

| Find me a doner S14 with good engine/diff for £2.37 max, and I'll get it done I love the idea of it though. Not sure if the SX diff would fit easily mind, will have to look into that... I know of one that basically took the whole rear subframe of a GTI-R (uses the SR20DET too), and used the diff like that, however that seems like a royal PITA! | |

| Only concern would be the weight of the engine, last thing you want to do is thrown something heavy os that sits slighty further forward and upset the balance that made the MX5 one of the most popular cars for handling and grip. | |

| It's quite a heavy engine as standard - the LS V8's weigh the same as a stock 5 motor! A few people have done the SR20 and love it - one I mentioned above uses his in the BDC, and just loves it. The angles he gets are wild too, so it must be fairly balanced given the 5 has a fairly short wheelbase. | |

| Yeah, that's not a very popular swap for some reason - seems to be just as much work as any other swap for less gain. Have seen a couple done though, they sound awesome, but I'd want boost anyway Just been and checked my tyres... seems I pretty much need a full set after Llandow so I might as well cut to the point and get some new wheels with them... that, and the fact it's my 21st on Tuesday give me as good an excuse as any I think! | |

| Updates... new pads/disks all round, free'd off a sticky caliper, have got the seals for it but tbh the piston's fubar so I'm just going to get a recon caliper this weekend (payday!). Front pads are Yellowstuff's, and I have to say I like them a lot. Produce a hell off a lot of dust though! They all need taking off and copper greasing this week too, forgot I ran out Gave it a quick oil/filter change too, oil filter is actually in the World's least accessible place (up under the inlet mani, behind an engine mount!). Seems to pull/rev a bit more freely now, so that was probably well due! No pics, cos I'm a lazy motherfudger. | |

| Lol, it's not finished yet, need to get a new extension for my socket set so I can do the sparks, and find out where the oil filter goes! Might have found a cheap glass rear window for it today, better for in winter etc, plus looks a hell of a lot smarter. Also had this arrive through the post today, nice iPod Alpine H/U | |

| Got it fitted today... didn't take long, but fiddled about with running the iPod and USB cables down the centre tunnel into the arm rest, now I can stick my iPhone in the arm rest and it comes up on screen. Works a treat, has up'd the SQ as well, plus the green back-lighting matches my dials! Also have to say after bedding them in, and copper greasing the backs to stop them squealing like a pig that's being ridden backwards by a baby monkey, the Yellowstuff's are pretty awesome, give me a lot of confidence under braking. Think a final decision got made on wheels this weekend too... just need to sort some money out now! lol | |

| Right, so as a few of you know I was having second thoughts about keeping this. Having weighed up the choices though, and spending a large amount of time admiring it at PCAD, it's staying, and we're sticking with the original plan of boooooooooooost. Firstly though, it needs engine mounts, suspension bushes all round, coils, diff welded, exhaust and wheels. I'm getting a quote for having the diff welded this week from a couple of driftworks recommended peeps (those guys REALLY give their cars poopoo, so if it holds to their abuse...) and next month will at least get the engine mounts and suspension bushes done. For those that didn't notice, there was a very, very small addition for PCAD, in the form of a front splitter. However, it's a bit too subtle... Plans for this year, this is mainly for my benefit as I'll tick this off as I get them done: Mazdaspeed engine mounts Floflex wishbone/arb/droplink bushes Welded diff Track rod ends, with spacers (minimizes bumpsteer) Coilies Exhaust Decat pipe PROPER roll bar Rotas Track/drift wheels Lairy semi-secret colour for bits... | |
