| Right obviously the 106/clio etc people will all run different tyres to the mr2 but need some advice.
I have some toyo t1r's on the fronts. Still got a bit of life in them, will last till at least after combe. But on close inspection today I have rather worn rears. Look more like slicks in places. Jimmy has some pictures.
What would everyone recommend? 225/50/r15 is what size on the rears.
Need to order some before the weekend.
Below is a link to ones on camskill.
Currently swaying towards t1rs on the rear too.

| Always a bit of a controversial one but if they are only road tyres I'd go for falken 452/912. Quite highly regarded on a lot of forums for road use, and I use them on the prelude for road use. Not bad price, quite good in the wet and quite good in the dry. | |

| I'm using Toyo CF1s at the moment. They've seen a full day at Bedford and Goodwood and still have plenty of life for another full day. They're also my daily tyres too. So far I can't fault them. | |

| Tigar - Made in Slovenia. Epic on track. Well, I was going alright on them at Llandow and I was able to completely abuse them and drive home on them Second only to last year's Russian offerings which I don't even have the letters on the keyboard to spell the brand name In all seriousness though (and I know what works for a 106 might not work for an MR2, or any other car for that matter), Kumho KU31s are my favourite. They last forever (I've never replaced a set through wear, it's always been me getting a new car/set of wheels!) and give very good grip in wet and dry. I've done numberous 'Ring laps on them and my passengers have always been surprised at the level of grip. They're dirt cheap. It's a shame everyone dismisses them as budgets. Shame they're discontinued and hard to get hold of now too (well, I've got eight, soon to be ten!) | |

| I did like the KU-31's on my Golf and Bora.
I never got on with the T1-R's on the Focus ST.
On the new car it has Goodyear eagle F1's GSD3's all round. No chance to try them in the wet but they are bloody good in the dry and do a decent job at containing 270 horses!

| shock horror... sensible post alert!
I used to love KU31s and the CF1s on my 106 but personally I can't fault the T1-R's on the MR2 cracking tyre I don't think either of the 106 favourites could be put on the MR2 personally.
basically chris's post sums it up really...
both me and Ad run them for a reason!

| You are both running 120 ish bhp more though so need the extra grip etc! All depends on your budget at the end of the day rich. I've never used expensive big brand tyres on the road as never needed them, but most people say the more expensive tyres have better grip as they're softer so also wear out quicker...suppose it depends how much grip you need. My rwd BMW that had 190bhp was fine on the road with nankangs, kumhos and falkens, but if it was to have gone on track on the road wheels I would have bought more expensive softer tyres due to being rwd and needing the grip! | |

| I appreciate the extra power argument when it's being used, however when I went to pick up my down pipe for mine it was hammering it down...joined an island went to take the 3rd exit...started to go round and because it was so wet at the time wasn't going very quick, back end decided it didn't like being behind. that was all with out the turbo spinning. oh and ad's deceased MR2 was also on T1-Rs albeit it was horrendous weather at the time. my personal opinion is, the majority (N/A or Turbo) on IMOC run T1-R's... | |
